Christian Education Ministries will be focusing on “Let’s Do Something for Zimbabwe” as our mission project throughout 2016. On Sunday, January 10, 2016, we had the pleasure of hearing Sandra Matoushaya, who is the Zimbabwe Partnership Coordinator, speak about the Zimbabwe Chabadza Partnership.
Sandra spoke about the four (4) components of the Chabadza Partnership. CEM’s 2016 mission will be directed towards the building and finishing of the Kajokoto Church. Her presentation showed the progress from 2012, when the church consisted of wall only, through 2014, when the roof was put onto the building. There has been a total of $18,558.63 raised to complete the church thus far. Kajokoto Church is also used by the community and the neighboring school. CEM’s mission will raise funds to be used towards plastering, furniture, flooring and paint for Kajokoto Church.
As of March, 2016, the congregation was using the Kajokoto Church, however, there are many items to be completed, including plastering, painting, flooring and a pulpit. The estimated cost to complete the church is $12,000.00.
CEM held a children’s ceramic painting and adult canvas painting event on January 31, 2016. A second canvas painting event was held on February 28, 2016, which raised $530.00. In addition, the Christian Education is accepting donations to the mission project in honor of or in memory of a loved one for birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day etc. To date, we have received $75.00 in donations.
Christian Education will be holding additional fundraisers during the year to assist in the finishing of the Kajokoto church.
