Outreach Ministry

CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST BAGS – Faith Church has donated Christmas Breakfast Bags to the Mother of Sorrows Community Food Pantry for the past four years.  This outreach program has been so well received (by both the congregation AND the Food Pantry) that we decided to do it again this year!   To ensure that every family who is in need will receive a breakfast bag, our goal is to collect 250 bags.  Each bag should contain the following items:  a full size box of cold cereal (12 oz or greater); non-refrigerated juice (65 oz bottle); box of instant hot chocolate; box of muffin or coffee cake mix; jar of jam or jelly; non-breakable Christmas tree ornament; Christmas Card (don’t forget to sign it!   Collection of the bags will take place now through Sunday, December 4th.  Consider making a donation of a Christmas Breakfast Bag in honor of or in memory of that special person(s) in your life.

CHRISTMAS PRESENTS for the residents of the ARK Personal Care Home in Delmont.  With such an overwhelming response last year, we will be providing gifts again this year.  Early in December we will receive the names of residents that we can provide gifts for.  Each resident will suggest 3 items that they would like to receive, if possible.  You are not expected to provide all three gifts but if you would like to partner with another Faith member/members or family members to provide all three gifts that would be wonderful.  Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. 

ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF GENTLY WORN OR NEW CLOTHING – Faith Church will be collecting gently worn or new clothing to donate to His Hand Extended Ministries (His HEM), a Christian outreach ministry, located in Mamont.  His HEM opened their doors in 2005.  His HEM has been welcomed by the community and has been blessed by donations of clothing, furniture, household goods, children’s items and monetary gifts.  The proceeds generated by these items are used to assist people and families who find themselves in a crisis situation.  The store is operate solely operated by volunteers. 

SERRV ITEMS will be available at the church during Christmas at Salem in Crossroads (Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 12).  You will be able to purchase beautiful and affordable fair trade items handmade by disadvantaged artisans in developing regions throughout the world.  With each purchase, you help artisans maintain steady work and a sustainable income so they can provide for their families.  The holiday season is here and a great time to show your support for artisans around the world.  Enrich your life and change the world at the same time!

CARE PACKAGES for the Military serving in war zones….Faith UMC has members heading to or serving in Afghanistan.  Our church is sending packages monthly.  Boxes will be placed in the gathering area for your donations.  A list of items that our troops appreciate receiving follows:  bug repellent; fly swatter; single servings of Kool Aid, Crystal Lite, Ice Tea mix; lip balm; suntan lotion; small items that can be handed out to the children; toothpaste and toothbrushes; lozenges; candy (no chocolate); chewing gum; flavored toothpicks; sunflower and pumpkin seeds; white tube socks; lotion; gel packs for shoes; beef jerky; Q-tips; foot powder; bandanas (black or camo); books/magazines = sports, cars, news; AA batteries; CDs/DVDs; cards and notes.  Anything that we can do to show our support of their efforts to make this world a better place for everyone is truly appreciated.  We will keep updating this list as we become aware of additional items that they need.   Let’s share Christ’s Love Through Faith’s military care packages.  May God watch over them and bring them all home safely. 

UMCOR School Kits -Faith members partner with United Methodist Women to make UMCOR School Kits.  The following items are needed:  blunt scissors (rounded tip only, no plastic scissors); spiral or top bound pads, loose leaf paper; hand held 1″ pencil sharpeners; 30 centimeter rule – hard or flexible – cartoon characters are acceptable, no advertisements, please; 14″ x 16″ cloth bag – home made or purhcased bags are both acceptable – heavy duty fabric only – denim, corduroy, drapery fabric – no advertisements, religious, patriotic, military or camouflage symbols pelase.  Closures are optional but must be buttons, snaps or Velcro sewn in middle of opening if used.  ALL ITEMS MUST BE NEW.
